American

American is an environment of displacement; a process where maker becomes viewer and visa-versa. Formation of creativity is no longer viewed as an independent venture. We've seen this with the Condensation Cube from Hans Hacke, the works of James Turrell, and more recently with works of Katerina Seda who appropriates the drawings of office supplies her grandmother makes in a state of recalling corporate-oppressiveness toil.

The point is, art can be functional; it can move people, invigorate and include them through the use of creative energy or thought process created by you! What better way to include people than in this space, Mendenhall gallery—a place of congregation—the "student center".

Artists include : Wafaa Bilal, Annie Hogan, Adam Jacono, Marilyn Forbes,  Nathan Brines and Roderick Fincannon.
