Artivism

Activism and Art is a great new series of events at Monmouth University.  Music, Dance, Visual Art and Film events over the coming months. Some great culture here!

Artivism, the exhibition that is currently on show at the Pollack Galleries at Monmouth is one of the events of this series. My work and the work of many others whose work makes social comment through an expressive visual form.

Pollack Gallery

gallery opens 10am

As a universal language, the arts have always been an effective tool for addressing social issues. Artivism or "activist art" is a form of social protest that explores cultural and political concerns. However, it is much more than just an innovative tactic, Artivism involves an entire practice that attempts to inspire positive change in society. This juried exhibition will feature works of art that employ spectacle, symbolism and collective participation to fight for issues of social justice including racial discrimination, gender equality, fair labor practices, human rights and more.

Show opens!! Amy Brummer

Wow! The exhibition was a great turn out by all the artists in the show and friends and family and community members of Princeton. Amy Brummer made an incredible opening along with Director, Taneshia Nash Laird, Maria Evans and Mark Germond. Thank you all for such a great opening and I look forward to the next one!

From the exhibition: Curated by Amy Brummer, Reconstructed History features work by artists Wendel White, Annie Hogan, Casey Ruble, Leslie Sheryll and Ann Lepore. These artists transform documentary images by obscuring the primary data through layers of processes, both analog and digital. By doing so, the artists create visual narratives that speak to a broader historical complexity in content and technique. A stunning image by Wendel White, below,  advertises the exhibition and my image is the cover for the catalog (above)!
