The Light Factory's Annual Art Auction

This year I am donating a work to the Light Factory in Charlotte North Carolina, for their Annual Auction. This is going to be held on Saturday November 14th. The Annual Auction is a fundraising event to aid the Light Factory in their yearly photographic and film programs. The Light Factory is the second largest organization outside of New York City specifically devoted to Photography.

Disappearers explores the absent figure in contemporary photography.

The exhibition assembles a cast of eight artists from around Australia,

united by a passion for unpeopled spaces.

 

My images Bittersweet, Forgiveness, Trust, Dreamin' and Essence will be in the exhibition. All are type C prints, 40" x 50" and were made inbetween the years 2000 and 2002.

Shows and Activities happening now

Breathless, an exhibition of 13 works is on show at ArtSpace in Richmond Virginia. This exhibition will culminate this Sunday, the 20th with an Artist Talk in the Gallery at 4pm. All are welcome.

 

The show received a very small mention in the Richmond Times-Dispatch. See here to access the mention. A big thank you to Jessica Sims and to Martin McFadden from ArtSpace for their support and help with the show.

 

 

American is an exhibition of large format photographs and small works that include stereoscopes and books at ECU's Mendenhall Gallery. Other artists exhibiting is this show include Wafaa Bilal, Adam Jacono, Nathan Brines, Rod Fincannon and Marilyn Forbes. The Closing reception is tomorrow night September 16th at 5pm. All are welcome.  

 

I am included in the exhibition 'From a Woman's perspective' at the Pepco Edison Gallery in Washington DC. This show which is a Women's Caucus for the Arts initiative, is on show until October 30th.

 

The Pepco Edison Gallery is across the road from The National Portrait Gallery in Washington DC. The address is 702 8th Street, NW Washington, DC 20001

Wild & Sexy 

Dr Kate LaMere and I will be curating the exhibition Wild & Sexy for students who attended the Study Abroad in England and Scotland in the first summer session of 2009. The exhibition is from September 7-11 in the Burroughs Wellcome gallery and the Foyer Space in the Jenkins Art building at East Carolina University.

The opening reception is on thursday september 10 at 5pm. All welcome. Come celebrate artwork that is inspired by england and scotland.

American

American is an exhibition that grew out of a previous exhibition called Power Shift, which was inspired by a visit to ECU photography department by Iraqi artist Wafaa Bilal. Bilal works at the Tisch School of Arts, NYU. See more about Wafaa here

The Artists' in the exhibition are: Wafaa Bilal, Annie Hogan, Adam Jacono, Nathan Brines, Marilyn Forbes and Roderick Fincannon.

American is comprised of Painting, Performance, Photography, Video, Interactive Media and Sculpture.

 

Closing reception for American is September 16 at 5pm in Mendenhall Gallery, East Carolina University.
